Home shopping in five Austin neighborhoods

Welcome to Curbed Comparisons, a column that explores what one can rent or buy for a set dollar amount in various Austin neighborhoods. Is one person’s studio another person’s townhouse? Let’s find out! Today’s price: $215,000.

2401 Manor Road #235, two-bedroom, one-bathroom condo, 770 square feet, $214,900 plus $150/month HOA fees. Located in East Austin’s Blackland neighborhood between Chestnut and Cherrywood, this unit is in a complex surrounded by some of Manor Road’s most popular restaurants. It has stainless-steel appliances, granite counters, a washer/dryer, wood floors, an upgraded bathroom, and new windows.

7400 Elk Pass Drive, three-bedroom, two-bathroom detached house, 1,3,24 square feet, $213,000. Yes, you can own a single-family home for our price point—even one not too terribly far from the city core. This house is on a corner lot in the southeast Colorado Crossing subdivision, not far from McKinney falls and the airport. It has high ceilings, a semi-open floor plan and a large walk-in closet and full bathroom in the master suite. The fenced backyard has a patio and several trees.

1202 Newning Avenue, one-bedroom, one-bathroom condo, 660 square feet, $215,000 plus $150/month HOA dues. An updated condo built in 1966, this nicely located Travis Heights space has lots of natural light, laminate floors, and a kitchen with granite counters, a gas stove, and stainless steel appliances. There’s a community courtyard with city views, a 7-foot pool, and a sundeck.

3431 North Hills Drive, three-bedroom, two-bathroom condo, 1,242 square feet, $214,500 plus $287/month HOA fees. An upstairs unit in a complex located in the Valleyside Place subdivision in North Austin, this large condo has an open living room with a fireplace and an open kitchen-dining room setup. It has a private, covered patio facing the courtyard and recent updates.

8002 Marble Ridge Drive, three-bedroom, two-bathroom detached home, 1,620 square feet, $220,000. This Far South Austin is asking a little more than our price point, but it’s one of the few single-family homes that come close and are in decent shape. It has an open floor plan, two dining areas, and black appliances that convey. (Furnished rooms here are virtually staged). There’s also a fenced yard with mature trees.
