This past Saturday, inside Kreuz Market, Lockhart Mayor Lew White proclaimed September 5, 2026, Roy Perez Day. He made the announcement with Perez by his side, just outside the pit room where Perez has been at the helm since the building opened in 1999. Perez worked for Kreuz Market for 39 years (some of them at the old location), his entire barbecue career.
