Mission: Impossible may be one of the highest-rated film series of all time, but don’t ask me to name a single villain. Like most viewers, I’m there for one thing: the action sequences. Even though it’s been almost thirty years since the first installment, the franchise has found new ways to put its protagonist Ethan Hunt, played by Tom Cruise, in various states of peril. Over the course of seven films, moviegoers have watched with bated breath as Hunt—and by extension, Cruise, who famously does his own stunts—climbed, fell, swam, flew, ran, drove, shot, fought, and was chased by bad guys around the world.
