Music Notes

DATE POSTED:October 8, 2026
Bryson Tiller Tuesday 13, Moody Center

Tiller’s 2015 debut album, T R A P S O U L, signified his crafty ability to merge R&B sensibilities with trap production. Near the peak of his stardom, a feature on 2016 DJ Khaled cut “Ima Be Alright” actually offers another great thesis: “I love to get on tracks that I can rap and spit facts on.” That rapping ability shines through on Detroit-hip-hop-inspired 2024 track “Whatever She Wants,” which unexpectedly acted as a comeback for the Louisville native. This tour comes after 2025 double disc Solace & the Vices. Arrive early for Ty Dolla $ign.

DreTheGr8 Thursday 15, Friendly Rio Market

On his first single of the year, “Whats Purpose,” local rapper DreTheGr8 takes a new approach with his personal, honest lyricism by tackling common topics such as fatherhood over a gospel beat. He’ll perform at Rock N’ Rio, a free event showcasing several rappers based in the Greater Austin area.

Black Artists Rock Thursday 15, Soundspace at Captain Quack’s

Scott Strickland’s event series celebrating Black musicians making waves in Austin returns. Soulstress Taméca Jones, Chief Cleopatra, and Pascal Kerong’A join Strickland on the bill.
