The Journey ContinuesElliot Woods’s story “Stay Strong, My Brother” [December 2025]—about a group of immigrants’ horrifying journey to the United States—was heartbreaking. It reminded me of a quote: “I have seen and felt them go into a room of experience into which I cannot enter.” That was written by John Steinbeck in Travels With Charley and referred to Black Americans who were fighting for their rights during the Jim Crow era. Though these circumstances are different, the same sentiment can be attributed to those who survived the voyage in Woods’s story—and those who did not. Brenda K.
