Texas Barbecue Teams Are Lining Up to Win $1 Million at the BBQ World Cup

The FIFA World Cup is coming to Texas this summer, but—dare I say—an equally important World Cup is slated for next spring in Las Vegas. One hundred teams will compete in the inaugural BBQ World Cup, where the winner will take home $1 million, by far the biggest payout for a barbecue competition in history.The BBQ World Cup was conceived by Scott Erdmann and Shannon Pruitt. Erdmann caught the barbecue bug in 2024, when he signed up to be a helper at the Texas BBQ Shootout competition, at Arlington’s AT&T Stadium.
