David B. DunhamTexas Monthly’s vice president of development, David Barr Dunham, is retiring after an illustrious 47-year career at the media company. His last day will be January 1, 2027.Dunham arrived at Texas Monthly after years of being an avid reader of the magazine. As a student at the University of Texas at Austin, he’d peruse Texas Monthly during his lunches at a local drugstore. Struck by its journalism, “biting wit, and fearless assessment of our strange and marvelous fellow Texans,” Dunham set out to join Texas Monthly no matter the job, he recalls. He called the magazine twice a week for six weeks to see if there was an opening. His persistence paid off: He joined Texas Monthly as an account executive in April 1979. He…
