At Bock Burger Takeaway in Alpine, a high-desert town north of Big Bend National Park, you’re more than welcome to barter for your supper.“Most people are like, ‘Oh, so you barter. Will you take my husband?’ ” says co-owner Michelle Minto. “And I’m like, ‘I don’t know. Does he do dishes?’ ”No one has successfully pawned off a spouse yet, but plenty of patrons have swapped other goods and services since Minto and her husband, Justin Bock, opened their walk-up burger shop in the summer of 2022.
