As thousands flocked to the state capitol on Saturday to protest the Trump administration’s plans to build a border wall through the Big Bend region, a smaller, more intimate rally converged at the mouth of Santa Elena Canyon, in Big Bend National Park. River enthusiasts and professional guides formed a waterborne protest, surrounded by the jaw-dropping natural beauty they fear is at risk.The boaters, numbering around two hundred, shared a moment of silence as Tyler Priest, an outdoor guide and former park ranger, encouraged them to gaze into the canyon. “That’s what’s on the line,” he said.
