Photos: San Antonio Rejoices as the Spurs Head to the NBA Finals

In San Antonio last night, a deafening stream of noise started immediately after the hometown Spurs beat the Oklahoma City Thunder in game seven of the Western Conference finals, sending the team to the NBA Finals. Although the game was played in Oklahoma, an orchestra of honking cars took over the streets and highways right after it was over; chants of “Wem-V-P” and more general elated screaming seemed to come from all directions. The Spurs faithful (filing out of bars, running, riding horses) celebrated with anything that could possibly rupture an eardrum: fireworks, human-size matracas, horns, pots and pans.
